In an unprecedented act, the Mexican Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) donated two aircrafts to the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC). This will provide hundreds of aerospace engineering students with the opportunity to develop their profession and add value to their experience by having access to this equipment to expand and strengthen their knowledge.
SEDENA donated the following aircrafts to the School of Engineering Sciences and Technology (ECITEC), in Valle de las Palmas, Tijuana Campus: one Cessna 1825 fuselage transported from the 106 squadron located in La Paz, Baja California Sur, as well as the fuselage of a Bell 206 helicopter transported from the helicopter training center located in Zapopan, Jalisco.
The Aerospace Engineering study plan includes classes focusing on the construction of the primary structure elements, as well as the structural analysis of these elements and their main forms of union including the calculation of the various pressures aircrafts are subjected to.
The armed forces’ donation will have a direct impact on over 300 students who are currently enrolled in the Aerospace Engineering career of the Valle de las Palmas Campus, as well as the next generation of students.
During the event, the Rector of UABC, Dr. Juan Manuel Ocegueda Hernandez, thanked SEDENA, the state government and the business sector for their support in strengthening their students’ education.
The armed forces donation will have a direct impact on over 300 students who are currently enrolled in the Aerospace Engineering career offered at the Valle de las Palmas Campus, as well as the next generations. “[This is] a career with great potential stemming from the growing importance of the aerospace industry in the country, in terms of direct foreign investment and jobs creation, as well as for the country’s foreign trade,” stated Dr. Ocegueda Hernandez. It is important to note that five years after its creation, more than 170 students have graduated from the School of Engineering and Technology Sciences and 130 in Engineering at the Mexicali Campus.....
