A solar park that will provide more than 95% of the electricity needs of the Baja California Pediatric Oncology Center (COP for its acronym in Spanish) was inaugurated. This Center will provide free medical attention to children diagnosed with cancer who do not have the means to pay for their medical expenses.

The inauguration was hosted by the General Director of the North American Development Bank (NADB), Alex Hinojosa, along with the President and Founder of the Castro-Limon Foundation, Encinas Ripa and Roberto Castro Torres.

The NADB provided 125,000 USD worth of non-refundable resources through their technical assistance program for the design, development and construction of the park. In addition, the NADB managed the donation of the 90 kW solar panels for the plant on behalf of Mission Solar Energy, a photovoltaic solar panel manufacturing company located in San Antonio, Texas.

“We are proud to have promoted this sustainable project, as making this solar plant possible with minimal cost for the COP is an example of collaboration between the public and private sectors”, commented Hinojosa.

“The NADB is the leading figure in the development of renewable energy projects in Mexico’s northern Border States and this type of collaboration will help to promote energy sustainability in other border communities and institutions.”
