7 Great Events in Tijuana to Start September With

TIJUANA.- New month, new weekend, new things to do here in this border city. More than halfway through the year and maybe you're starting to feel that little itch that tells you "you need to do more stuff".

Here's some stuff. Fun festivals, concerts and events, a car show and art. Pick and choose!

Friday September 1

Festiarte

La 12th edition of the festival is here, with new exhibitors, art, food, crafts, clothing for sale and much more. Family friendly, but not boring. Pet Friendly too, with an enclosed area for pets and even some talks about pets. It runs from Friday 1 through September 3.

The Tijuana City Fair

Like in the U.S. Independence Day in Mexico (September 16) signals the beginning of "fair season" in Tijuana. This weekend is the start of the city's fair, full of food, rides, concerts and even a play or two. Tickets are on sale on site.

  • Time? 8:00pm
  • Admission: Adult is $60 pesos (About $2.60 USD) and children are just $30 pesos

Saturday September 2

The Crash Lucha Libre

Just like every month, The Crash offers some of the best lucha libre this side of the border. Big stars like Black Danger and Oráculo are making an appearance, promising to knock the stones out of each other and put on a great show.

  • Where? Fausto Gutiérrez Auditorium
  • Time? 8:30 pm
  • Admission: presale is $125 pesos ($7 USD) for adult and kids are $85 pesos. On site tickets are $155 general and kids $105 pesos.

Dark Woods Dream Festival

Bad Royale, Croatia Squad, Datsik, Henry Fong, Morgan Page, Noxah, Oskier y Vini Vici, are going to be there and make you jump and dance with all their great electronic music. Marshmello (sic) was the first to be announced on the lineup, but now can't be found in the poster. Planning on going?

  • TIme? 5:00pm
  • Admission: Presale is $890 pesos ($50 USD) and day of event is $1,200 pesos

Carlos Ballarta

A Mexican stand up comic, Carlos Ballarta, he'll bring a taste of his comedy back to the city, and if you're a fan or looking for something new to do while having a laugh, this is it. Special guest is Coco Celis.

  • Where? Teatro Zaragoza
  • Time? Two shows 7:15pm and 9:30pm
  • Admission: General $350, preferred are $450 and VIP $600 pesos

Jas Devael

A homage to the Divo de Juárez, Juan Gabriel. Singer Jas Devael will interpret his greatest hits a year after the legend's passing. Special guest, Silvia Pantoja.

  • Admission: $450 general and $650 pesos VIP

Sunday September 3

20th Car Show

Eunime Por Tijuana is organizing this car show, where the proceeds will go to it's hospice work. Raffles, gifts and a car exhibition from auto clubs in Mexico and the U.S., a 100% family event.

  • Where? Estadio Caliente
  • Time? 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Admission: A $20 pesos donation is required, while 12-year-olds and under are free.
