KoMe: The Korean Taco Shop in Tijuana You Have to Try

A "Tijuanense" taco with a very interesting twist

From the people in charge of the popular Vietnamese food restaurant called "Little Saigon," KoMe Korean BBQ Taqueria (taco shop) is here to revolutionize the way in which Tijuana tacos are served, with a fusion of Mexican and Korean ingredients.

When you walk into KoMe it feels like a traditional taqueria, including the classic norteño music that characterizes many taco shops around the city. But everything changes when they bring you the menu and you see that indeed, it is definitely not what you may be used to regarding tacos in TJ.

We started with a red sauce beef taco, which you can compare with the traditional "asada taco," but with a sweeter flavor. Handmade tortillas and well-cut and cooked meat make this stew fulfills its job by highlighting the mixture of flavors.

The octopus taco in a fried banana sauce with guajillo will make seafood lovers crazy. This special sauce is what makes this taco stand out, mostly because the flavor is so nice you won't be able to remember when was the last time you tasted something so good.

KoMe also offers other traditional taqueria dishes like mulitas, and we couldn't wait to order one of beef chorizo with orange sauce. From the first bite you can feel the perfect contrast between the orange sauce and the beef chorizo's salty flavor. It is a combination you didn't know you needed in your life.

The chicharrón prensado (pressed pork rind) huarache in green sauce surprised us, and the extra ingredients complementing the stew make it a more enjoyable dish.

We closed lunch with a green sauce pork quesadilla. We recommend that if you are hungry, ask for your favorite stew in a quesadilla, because it was the dish we liked the most.

If you're looking for something spicy you may be a bit disappointed, since none of the stews are really hot in that way, but marinated in Korean sauce. Although, they have a secret salsa that's not on the menu but worth the ask. You can order a Korean macha sauce that is made with sesame oil, habanero chili, garlic and sesame seed. This sauce will give you the spicy kick you need.

KoMe is located in 7th Street of Downtown Tijuana.
