50 Tijuana families evacuated due to sinking in 3 de Octubre neighborhood

Dozens of families had to leave their homes due to sinkholes.

The Tijuana City Hall reported that a landslide in the 3 de Octubre neighborhood in the Sánchez Taboada Delegation caused the evacuation of 50 families. The landslide was caused by heavy rains and possible sewage spills.

According to their official website, Cespt will be in charge of analyzing the situation to determine what was the main cause of this overflow. The affected area is two blocks from Vialidad Nardos to a canyon, this area was already at risk in 2019.

On the other hand, the affected people can take shelter at Unidad Deportiva Tijuana Reforma, which only seven people have gone to. Likewise, food, clothes, blankets and medicines were delivered to those affected.

According to the press release published on the Tijuana City Hall website: "elements of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) are working and activated the DNIII Plan, for natural disasters, in coordination with the Secretary of Security and Municipal Citizen Protection ''.
