"2023 Christmas Security Plan" is announced in Tijuana

This operation will be implemented in the entire state of Baja California, according to mayor Montserrat Caballero

The mayor of Tijuana, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, was accompanied by officials from the 3 levels of government when she revealed the "2023 Christmas Security Plan" which will guarantee the security of inhabitants and local and foreign tourists.

Alongside the Secretary of the Interior, Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, representing Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Caballero Ramírez informed about the participation of 1,178 municipal police officers that will be distributed through three areas: preventive security, commerce, and roads.

In front of the Secretary of State Citizen Security, Leopoldo Aguilar Durán and the municipal secretary, Fernando Sánchez González, the mayor highlighted that the main goal of these actions is to strengthen and guarantee security conditions for everyone.

That's why, alongside the State Attorney General, María Elena Andrade Ramírez, the mayor said that they will have aid and coordination from the three levels of government and the participation of several emergency parties such as the Red Cross and the Fire Department.

The mayor insisted that the 24th Municipal Administration and all united forces will promote an atmosphere of peace for the Christmas season, because their commitment is always with citizen security and the season as security was strengthened from November 21 until January 6, 2024.

Caballero Ramírez recognized that the union of the three levels of government represents actions that will consolidate joint work and clear strategies regarding security matters, as she doesn't doubt the excellent results that the Security Plan must show to have real meaning.

"The main goal is to establish social proximity with a transversal axis, in order to be close to our citizens, to work hand in hand, and so that they feel that trust so that they can approach police officers that are working for our city," the mayor said.

This Municipal Government alongside other powers will strengthen and guarantee security conditions for everyone, which is why they will have support and coordination from the three levels of government and the participation of several different emergency agencies.

From Avenida Revolución, the mayor spoke with merchants and Tijuana natives at large to assure them that they will be safeguarded during Christmas and New Year with police assistance and security for account holders, at ATMS, and for moving valuable assets.

In a representative act, the task force toured the iconic Avenida Revolución to continue the rounds that will provide protection for the citizens of Tijuana and the entire state with participation from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard, and the National Institute of Migration.

Agencies such as Federal Bridges and Roads (CAPUFE), Mexico's Attorney General Office (PGR), the Secretariat of Tourism, State and Municipal Civil Protection, the Red Cross, Municipal Administrations, Fire Department, and Specialized Units with a Gendered Perspective will also participate.
