4 events in San Diego that will make you cross the border this weekend

If you still don’t have any plans for this weekend, here’s a list of the events you absolutely cannot miss. These exciting shows will make of June an incredible month where you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious gastronomic experience at the Lao Food Festival or spend a wonderful afternoon with your family at the San Diego County Fair.

Prepare yourself to cross the San Ysidro port of entry! Here are the events of the weekend from June 15 to June 17:

Lao Food Festival in San Diego

This 2-day event is a love letter to the diversity and cultural wealth of the gastronomy of Laos. It is a festival where visitors will find a great variety of stands with traditional dishes and exquisite desserts.

In addition, this festival will have live music, cultural performances, cooking demonstrations, and fun competitions.

The mission of this event’s organizer, Lao Americans Organization of San Diego (LAOSD), is to share the history and culinary treasures of the people of Laos.

Date: Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18
Location: Mira Mesa Community Park, located at 8575 New Salem Street San Diego
Time: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
Prices: Tickets can be purchased online. $5 dollars for people 12 years old or older, $3 dollars for children ages 5 to 12, and free admission for children 5 years of age or younger.

San Diego County Fair

The San Diego County Fair is the ideal place to go to with your family. With more than 60 attractions, children can enjoy hours of games and fun!

This year the Corona Grandstand Stage will be the venue of several artists as part of the Toyota Summer Concert Series. When purchasing your ticket for a show, you’ll get a free admission to the fair. For this weekend, guest artists are Lynyrd Skynyrd and Grupo Bronco.

Date: From June 7 to July 4, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
Time: 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Grupo Frontera in concert

Don’t miss an evening full of excitement, Grupo Frontera arrives in San Diego to leave their mark on music. A relatively new band has become the newest phenomenon of Regional Mexican, after their massive success in the Billboard 100, with songs such as “Un x100to” with Bad Bunny, their collaboration “Que Vuelvas” with Carin León, and their viral single “No se va”.

Fans will be dazzled by the electrifying energy of Grupo Frontera who will show their musical prowess on the stage. Consisting of Adelaido Solís, Julián Peña Jr, Alberto Acosta, Carlos Zamora, Carlos Guerrero, and Juan Javier Cantú, the band has delighted the public with their unique sound.
