University Fair “A step to your future”

SUPPORT THE MEXICAN AND LATINO LEADERS OF TOMORROW!

The Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego is partnering with Alianza MX, the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC), the California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP), the North County Family Justice Center and stakeholders to host the first bilingual university fair in North County San Diego.

The goal of the fair is to guide first generation students through the process of enrolling in college and filling out their financial aid applications for FAFSA or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) for those students that do not have a Social Security Number.

California is a very generous state for the migrant community, the purpose of this fair is to encourage students, regardless of their immigration status, to continue their studies beyond high school and present them with all the options that are available to them.

The students and their parents will be able to sit with volunteers from Cal-SOAP to fill out their applications for FAFSA or CADAA. They will also be able to get information from the admissions department of different institutions, including the 3 main systems in California: University of California, California State Universities and Community Colleges.

This is our first effort, but we are hoping that this event (free entrance) will continue and grow to be the one stop shop for first generation students to obtain all the tools they need to enroll in college or a university.
