Medical personnel and supplies are in short supply at Tijuana General Hospital

This facility has struggled to satisfy the demands of its patients

When faced with the fourth wave of Covid-19 infections in Baja California, Alberto Reyes Escamilla, the former director of the Tijuana General Hospital (HGT), assured that one of the institution's main problems is a lack of personnel to continue fighting the pandemic while also attending to other patients.

We require a great deal, including supplies, medications, and instructors... but the difficulty, he added, is a paucity of staff and materials inside the Tijuana General Hospital.

In turn, he emphasized that patients' lives are not in danger, but that the facility has struggled to satisfy their demands owing to a lack of resources and people.

The former director acknowledged that the HGT has progressed significantly, but said that there is still more work to be done, particularly on the issue of insurance, which is a matter for the federal government.

Likewise, he stated that it is not enough to simply recognize the medical and health-care personnel who have been fighting pandemics for over two years, but that they must also be paid a fair wage for their efforts.

It's worth recalling that Alberto Reyes previously stated that antibióticos, relaxants, anti-inflammatories, and even solutions are among the most often stored medications at the institution.
