The journalist and PAN senator, Lilly Téllez, spoke out against the acquisition of the Russian vaccine, Sputnik V, by the Mexican government, which plans to import 24 million doses to solve the COVID-19 crisis.

Through social networks, the legislator indicated that the antigen is of poor quality: "Mexico does not want 'Russia´s affection'; an anti-democratic, authoritarian country, without freedom of expression and corruption. The less we need their poor quality vaccines, do not underestimate the people," she said.

The Russian vaccine "only works on paper and in theory it looks good", but "it has not been approved to work", stated the PAN member after indicating that Russia has been questioned by the scientific community for presenting false information and not complying with the optimum results in its testing phases.

The above statements refer to the call that Andrés Manuel López Obrador had with his counterpart Vladimir Putin recently, where they discussed the pandemic.

"We spoke with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and he was genuinely affectionate. I invited him to visit Mexico and thanked him for the decision to send us 24 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine for the next two months," AMLO said on his official Twitter account.
