Miguel Cotto goes for the "Canelo' - Chavez, Jr. Match

The Puerto Rican could face both Mexicans in upcoming matches

SAN DIEGO.- After the close win of Saul 'Canelo" Alvarez against Erislandy Lara last weekend, the Mexican team wants to quickly deal for a possible match-up, which is why Miguel Angel Cotto was quickly proposed so that fans will focus on that match and not on Lara's requests.

The Alvarez-Cotto fight is currently being negotiated to take place next year in the middleweight division, thus officializing the bump-up in category of the Mexican boxer.

However, ESPN columnist Salvador Rodriguez published an article with quotes by Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., who had not been heard from, saying that he might face Miguel Cotto. The columnist added that this would happen at the end of 2014 as a preliminary fight in preparation to face "Canelo".

So, the season is primed with rumors until something official is announced. There will have to be some sort of arrangement made by the promoters, Golden Boy Promotions which represents "Canelo", and Top Rank which represents Julio Cesar Chavez and Miguel Cotto.
