Spain 2-1 Mexico: Couldn't be done

Mexico had the lead for over 70 minutes but received two late goals.

TURKEY - With an impressive play and a bit of bad luck Mexico Under-20 squad exits the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey after a 2-1 defeat to Spain.

Barely two minutes of the game had gone by when the Mexican team took the 1-0 after a "Golazo" from Alfonso Gonzalez who volleyed into the net a powerful shot after a long pass out of defense. Mexico would take the one goal lead to halftime.

For the second half the Spaniards pushed Mexico all the way back as they searched for an equalizing goal. Derik would find that equalizer in the 73rd minute after a moment of miss concentration from the Mexico defense during a corner kick. The Spanish did not let up on the attack and in stoppage time Jese Rodriguez had a long range shot deflect off of Abel Fuentes and bounce into Richard Sanchez's goal who had been having a terrific game stopping multiple shots from the Spanish forwards.
