12 people mysteriously disappear from a bar

Authorities do not know how they left the place

MEXICO-The prosecutor of Mexico City, Rodolfo Rios, confirmed yesterday that "most" of the young people, who were reported missing on May 26, arrived at the bar in which family members are sure that they were kidnapped in. Rios acknowledged that they still do not know how they left the place.

"Most of these young people arrived to this place in two cars, a compact car and a taxi. This is all of the information we have so far," said the prosecutor in a press conference after meeting for three hours with the families of those who are missing.

Rios said that they showed the family members a videotape analysis taken from video cameras of the Mexican Government and from various businesses around the area, which is how they were able to determine that these young people had arrived

to the bar "Heaven".

He also confirmed that there was a request made for a provisional arrest warrant against three individuals who are under investigation in connection with the disappearance of these people, who add to a total of 12 now missing.

The suspects (two men and a woman) were taken to a detention center, said Rios.

Residents of the crowded neighborhood of Tepito in Mexico City, where those who are missing are from, have protested in recent days by the apparent lack of action by the authorities in this case.

According to relatives, an armed group is responsible for the kidnapping of these young people, including a minor and several women, who were all taken in vans that apparently had police logos on them.

Family members fear that these young men and woman were kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel, who consistently takes one or several people without asking for any type of ransom, and in many cases, find the victims dead days later.
