BOX : Unanimous Decision for "Canelo" Alvarez

Another victory for México

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez becomes the only champion at 154 pounds as he defeated Austin Trout by a unanimous decision in San Antonio, Texas. Close fight all the way through the twelve rounds but all three referees were all in agreement that Alavarez had the edge over Trout with the scores 118-109, 115-112, and 116-111.

Austin Trout came out swinging a lot in the early rounds. "Canelo" Alvarez opted for a good defense and counter punching strategy. While Trout threw a lot more punches he wasn't able to land many of them, as Alavrez kept moving away from them.

The biggest talking point of the bout came in the seventh round while Trout was throwing his many punches "Canelo" Alvarez countered with a powerful straight right to Trouts' chin causing the first ever knock-down in Trout's career.

The knock-down unsettled Trout and he went even more into the offensive, Alvarez was able to take advantage of Trout's eagerness and counter with powerful punches. While it seemed like Trout took control of the fight at times, it was "Canelo's" intention for Trout to come at him, instead of moving around the ring.

Alvarez even took the time to taunt Trout as he just stood still in the middle of the ring with his hands down. He allowed Trout to throw punch after punch while he just dodged them all.

In the final two rounds "Canelo" seemed well aware that he was leading in the score cards. Alvarez and just focused on not getting knocked-out. Once the final bell rung Alvarez knew the victory was in the bag, and later confirmed by the official announcement.
