Mayor of Tijuana Montserrat Caballero delivers permits for construction by FIBRA Macquarie Mexico

While laying the foundation stone of this project, the Municipal Administration of Tijuana authorized it to begin construction

Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, mayor of Tijuana, delivered the permits regarding blueprints and ground movement to the executives of FIBRA Macquarie Mexico of a new industrial park that will bring development to the western zone of Tijuana, during a ceremony where the foundation stone was laid.

"Tijuana continues to be attractive nationally and internationally for this type of projects that bring benefits to the city and all of Baja California. And because one shouldn't come to these events empty handed, I'm letting you know that we are authorizing the urban blueprint and the ground movement because above all there is the law, which is why I'm here delivering these permits," the mayor said.

During her speech, she emphasized the importance that this branch by FIBRA Macquarie Mexico is opening, as it will lead to the development and construction of an industrial park in Fraccionamiento Santa Fe, in a 25 hectare property where they are aiming to build three industrial buildings, with an approximate area of 81,140 square meters.

Caballero Ramírez claimed that this industrial park represents an important investment of the company in this city. In addition, this plant will create around 1,200 new direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs in the state, and will create an impact in goods and services of 760 jobs.

"We need to help with work, with mobility, and this new plant will bring a boost to the economic development that promotes job creation and competitiveness in Tijuana," the mayor added.

In addition, the industrial park that will be developed by FIBRA Macquarie Mexico will be environmentally friendly and will be built with the highest standards. It will aim to reduce to the max environmental impact by employing the LEED methodology, promoting, with this kind of infrastructure, a positive impact for the community.

FIBRA Macquarie Mexico is contemplating an initial investment of $90 million dollars, in order to carry out this project in Tijuana.

"With this project, we are promoting Tijuana as a dynamic industrial center that contributes to the progress and prosperity of the region. In addition, we have this vision of building cutting-edge spaces that not only fulfill companies' needs, but are also aligned with the most strict sustainable practices," highlighted Simon Hanna, Chief Executive Officer of FIBRA Macquarie.

While laying the foundation stone of this project by FIBRA Macquarie Mexico, the following people accompanied the mayor of Tijuana: Secretary of the Interior, Miguel Ángel Bujanda Ruiz, Juan Enrique Bautista Corona, Secretary of Territory, Urban, and Environmental Development, and the Secretary of Economic Development of Tijuana, Alejandro Mungaray Lagarda.
