Marina del Pilar works alongside the business sector of Baja California

The governor reaffirms her commitment with maintaining direct contact with the business leaders of Baja California

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, led a Coordination Council Regarding Security Matters at Tijuana’s Second Military Zone, where she was accompanied by members of the Business Coordinator Council (CCE) of Tijuana to review the security situation in the state and have entrepreneurs work together in strategies to fight crime.

At this meeting, heads and representatives of the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California (SSCBC), the Secretariat of Security and Municipal Citizen Protection (SSPCM) of Tijuana, the State’s Prosecutor Agency (FGE), and Mexico’s Prosecutor Agency (FGR) shared points of view and information to strengthen coordination and institutional capacity to fight insecurity.

The state governor emphasized that in the last few months crime rates have decreased significantly in six of the seven municipalities. However, measures need to be strengthened and, on that track, the participation of the business sector is essential to resolve this situation directly with communities.

Marina del Pilar listened to the concerns and proposals by the leaders of the business sectors, reaffirming her commitment with maintaining permanent dialogue with them for the peace of Baja California and its families.

Marina del Pilar acknowledged the contributions by the productive sector of Baja California, which creates wealth and gives jobs to hundreds of thousands of Baja Californians, as well as people from other states that come to this state for the opportunity of a better life.

At this meeting, the following people were present: Carlos Jaramillo, president of CCE Tijuana; Jorge Figueroa, head of CANACINTRA Tijuana; Xavier Ibarra, representative of CANADEVI; Julián Palombo, president of CANACO Tijuana; Roberto Vega, representative of COPARMEX; Cristina Hermosillo of DEITAC; José Luis Villasana, of CANIETI; Gina Villalobos, of CANACOPE; Alfonso Millán, of CANACAR; and Roberto Lyle, of the Council of Development of Tijuana.

In addition, the following people were also present: José Arturo Gutiérrez, of COTUCO; Ramiro Cárdenas, of AEBC; José Plascencia, of CANIRAC; Fernando Otañez, former president of CCE; Humberto Jaramillo, former president of CCE; entrepreneur Adolfo Solís; president of the Citizen Council of Public Security of Baja California (CCSPBC), Roberto Quijano; Edgardo Flores, of CCSPBC; and Cecilia Plascencia, representative of CCE Tijuana.
