Marina del Pilar: López Obrador reaffirms his commitment to work together with Baja California

Governor Marina del Pilar announced the exoneration of a toll booth in Playas de Tijuana in order to improve traffic in the area while work is carried out at Cañón del Matadero

Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, highlighted once more the commitment by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with her administration in order to address the state’s essential issues such as recent infrastructure damages in the region caused by landslides due to rain, as well as assistance for immigrants and the wellbeing of vulnerable groups, among other things.

Marina del Pilar stated that the president reaffirmed his support to resolve the situation at Cañón del Matadero, allowing the opening of the toll booth of Playas de Tijuana so that traffic can flow easily while repair work is being done. In addition, federal infrastructure projects will keep moving forward such as the Otay II port of entry and the elevated viaduct.

As such, the state governor announced that next Monday, April 3, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jorge Nuño Lara, will visit Baja California in order to handle the state’s infrastructure needs, especially after the rains that occurred in Tijuana.

The governor also said that President López Obrador instructed the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) to allocate enough resources to carry out the urgent infrastructure actions that the state requires.

“The president knows perfectly well the situation that Baja California is experiencing and he has always had our backs and has given our state all of his support, especially in Tijuana, after the rains that have damaged our streets,” she added.

Lastly, Marina de Pilar stated that another issue addressed with the president was water supply in the state, especially in the coastal area which requires alternative sources of water that are different from the Colorado River-Tijuana aqueduct.
