Carne asada taco with güerito yellow pepper and cheese crust by “Ta’Coqueto" in Tijuana gets a rating of 8.6

This taco had a very thick handmade corn tortilla

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Ta’Coqueto” located at Ave. Las Ferias & Villa Lomas 22034. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a taco called “Ta’Coqueto de la casa” priced at $6 dollars ($120 pesos) and a Gobernador Taco priced at $3.75 dollars ($75 pesos).

Gobernador Taco

This taco has a shrimp stew, purple cabbage, pico de gallo, bitter cream, asadero cheese, chipotle dressing, and is served on two handmade corn tortillas. This taco had an outer fried tortilla while the inner tortilla was softer. Both had been buttered which gave them more flavor.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny discovered that the cheese was melted. The shrimp stew was very creamy and had good shrimp presence. In addition, it had a very good size. The cheese enveloped all the ingredients giving them great flavor. Chef Danny would have liked it if the tortillas had been a little more fried. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.1.

Price: $3.75 dollars ($75 pesos)

Ta’Coqueto

This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), charred güero yellow pepper, cheese crust, pico de gallo, guacamole, chipotle dressing, and a handmade corn tortilla. Before he tried it, Chef Danny stated that the taco felt heavy when he grabbed it due to all the ingredients it has.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny was surprised by its flavor. He decided to trust his intuition and added some charred sauce, which was a little bit spicy. The tortilla was thick and it had enough thickness to withstand the weight of all the ingredients. The cheese crust added great flavor as well as the meat that had been well seasoned. The guacamole was made out of pure avocado flesh which is very important and this is why this taco gets a rating of 8.6.

Price: $6 dollars ($120 pesos)
