Adobada taco by “Tacos El Franc” in Tijuana gets a 7 for being small and using watery guacamole

Two tacos were tried here at this famous establishment

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Franc” located at Blvd. Gral. Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada 9257, Zona Río. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco and an adobada taco, both priced at $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos).

Adobada Taco

This taco has adobada meat, onion, cilantro, red salsa, watery guacamole, and is served on two packaged corn tortillas. When he tried it, Chef Danny said that the taco’s size was quite small and it was described as a “sample size”, i.e., a taco that can be eaten in two bites.

As for the ingredients, our host claimed that the meat tricked him since it looked quite pale. He thought it was going to be lacking in flavor, but the adobo was actually quite present. The sauce wasn’t spicy at all. The watery guacamole took off points from the taco and the tortillas were not a highlight at all. This is why this taco gets a rating of 7.3.

Carne Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), beans, huevona sauce, watery guacamole, onion, cilantro, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. The first thing to note about this taco was that the tortillas were bigger than the one in the previous taco.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny stated that the meat was very juicy. The sauce added humidity and made the taco have more flavor as it was seasoned quite well. Since it was chopped, it was easier to chew. The onion, coriander, and beans are classic ingredients and, just like in the previous taco, the watery guacamole did not help at all. However, our host discovered that this taco had been seasoned with chicken broth which gave it more flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.6.
