On Monday, October 3, 2022, several users from border crossing monitoring groups reported that alternate routes should be taken in order to get into the United States.

This is because a person was shot at Vía Rápida, at the level of the General Hospital. In fact, several people reported that around 6 AM several shots had been heard. Subsequently, several video and photographs began to spread showing a white truck in the middle of Vía Rápida, where the victim supposedly was.

According to the State’s Investigation Agency of Baja California, this incident occurred at 5:50 AM at Vía Rápida, at the level of Tijuana’s General Hospital in Colonia Zona Urbana Río Tijuana, in the Zona Centro delegation.

According to official information, it was reported through police radio that a non-identified male had been wounded with a firearm.

When authorities arrived at the scene, during dark hours with artificial light, there was no traffic on the roads. Three of the lanes were directed in the same way, while the other two were directed in the opposite way, according to official information.

On the second lane there was a Toyota Tundra vehicle with American license plates. The dead body was in the driver’s seat; a non-identified male with an age of approximately 40 to 45 years old. The body was found seated, with visible violence marks. 6 9mm shotshells were counted along the perimeter.

The victim was shot in the jaw, arm, and neck, which caused his death. So far, there have been no arrests and the investigation is still ongoing.

So far, in October, there have been13 recorded murders in Tijuana; throughout the year, there have been 1,492 murders.
