Government of Baja California proposes making Mexicali “the Capital of Music”

A registration platform was created so that members can identify their skills in the music industry

Today, the first meeting with this community took place, organized by the Direction of Creative Industries of the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI), to talk about the broadcasting of actions and benefits of the “Mexicali Capital of Music” initiative.

“We are going to make Mexicali the Capital of Music nationwide, recognizing the talent that we have here that includes composers, singers, musicians, producers, and cultural and artistic spaces. This is why in this first stage we are making a call to register talent through a platform that allows us to have a map of those who are part of the industry and how they relate to create new synergies and artistic connections,” he explained.

The proposal includes actions and aid that will elevate the knowledge, skills, and infrastructure of the musical community, making them more professional and competitive.

In addition, it was revealed that this strategy will boost the local economy, create jobs and investments, and attract musical tourism. It will also create a sense of belonging and a mark in the city based on innovation, culture, and creativity that will contribute to the strengthening of the social fabric.

The first meeting was exclusive for members registered on the platform and it was attended by more than 100 members, as well as several media outlets, where there was open dialogue and they exchanged ideas.

Subsequently, renowned singer-songwriter Juan Cirerol performed live to conclude this first meeting.
