Adobada taco from “Tacos Cristian” in Tijuana receives a rating of 9.2 due to its amazing flavor

The meat adobo was the highlight among all the ingredients

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Cristian” located at Blvd. Bellas Artes, Otay. On this occasion he tried two tacos: an adobada taco and a suadero taco, both priced at $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos).

Adobada Taco

This taco has adobada meat, guacamole, onion, cilantro, salsa, and is served on two corn tortillas, which are drenched in a little bit of oil and then griddled. Despite this, they were not too dry or hard. Before trying the taco, Chef Danny highlighted the meat slices since he could see they were taken directly from the spit, specifically the thin fried outer slices.

The salsa tricked our host at first since, due to its color, it looked “innocent”. However, in a scale of 0 to 10, he felt its spiciness level was around 8.5. Despite how spicy the sauce was, he was able to identify the flavor of the meat adobo as well as the avocado flesh. He added that the only “thing” about this taco is that he wished that they had added more meat since it had a great flavor, and he would have liked more guacamole, since he only tasted it in two bites.

Danny stated that he was very happy to find such a completely flavorful taco. Though he did think the protein was a little dry, he said that if he had arrived 40 minutes earlier, maybe it would have been juicier and it would have received an even better rating. This is why this taco gets a rating of 9.2.

Suadero Taco

This taco has suadero meat, onion, coriander, sauce with Mexican husk tomato, and is served on two packaged tortillas. When he tried it, Chef Danny claimed that the sauce was too acidic and the meat had a dry texture.

The suadero was cooked in its own grease, which made it quite juicy. However, Chef Danny thinks it was too big of a piece which is probably why it was dry, despite it having a great flavor. The packaged tortillas were also a little bit dry, which is why this taco gets a rating of 7.6.
