New York steak taco by “Tacos El Gallito” in Tijuana has an incredible salsa

Their adobada taco also had an incredible flavor

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Gallito” located at Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas 606, Otay Constituyentes. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: an adobada taco and a New York steak taco, both priced at $1.75 dollars ($35 pesos).

Adobada Taco

The first thing that Chef Danny highlighted in this taco was the intense red color of the adobada. This taco has onion, cilantro, guacamole, sauce, and is served on two corn tortillas which were the regular sizes used for adobada tacos. When he tried it, Chef Danny confirmed that the color was proof of the meat's great flavor.

Danny claimed that he was able to identify the adobo ingredients such as the pineapple, the achiote, and the spices and said that since the protein was directly taken from the stick, its flavors distinguish themselves even more. The salsa was spicy, but not too much, which is why its taste was quite good. Our host would have liked the tortillas to be bigger since one could taste the maize with each bite. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.8.

New York Steak Taco

This taco is served with New York steak, guacamole, beans, grilled nopal, charred salsa, and everything was served on a tortilla which had a good size. Though Chef Danny noticed the tortilla wasn’t handmade or recently made, he did say that he could tell that it was made exclusively for this taqueria.

The first thing our host highlighted was the salsa, which he claims is the key element that makes a taco better or worse. In this case, it helped the dish due to its great flavor and great spiciness level. Another thing he noticed was the guacamole, which Chef Danny claimed was at the midpoint between normal guacamole and watery guacamole. The meat was presented in a thin strip, which meant that it wasn’t hard to chew; the way the meat was cooked also made it quite soft. However, the sauce was the protagonist of this taco which is why it gets a rating of 9.1.
