Marina del Pilar will build suitable infrastructure for people with disabilities in Baja California

380 million pesos will be allocated for a series of actions and measures to benefit this part of the population

As usual, Wednesdays in Baja California is “mañanera” (morning press conference) day with state governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. This time she gave details about the aid that will be given to people with disabilities in her state, especially in schools.

She commented that, together with the Bienestar Social (Social Welfare) program, 100 million pesos will also be used to buy wheelchairs, canes, and other support or aid items and these will be donated to people living with vulnerable conditions.

Here, she claimed that a total of 380 million pesos will be allocated to help this part of the Baja Californian population with a series of actions and measures. This includes assisting students with different intellectual, auditory, visual, mobility, and multiple disabilities, as well as those in the autism spectrum, with pedagogic strategies for the different kinds of disorders.

She also indicated that 14.4% of people in Baja California need a type of mobility to go to therapy, school, work, or recreation, which is why infrastructure to improve the pedestrian experience will be built. This means walkable structures for all kinds of people, benefitting people with disabilities and those who accompany them.

Lastly, the Governor claimed that sidewalks, stops, ramps, parking spaces, connectivity, and transportation services will be worked on in order to give suitable mobility to people with disabilities.
