In Tijuana, Baja, California, the State Council for Migration Affairs was inaugurated Tuesday.

Marina del Pilar vila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, was present during the State Council for Migratory Affairs installation, which met at the State Center for the Arts in Tijuana (CEART) an effort aimed at promoting the dignified treatment of migrants in the state.

During the session, solutions for serving people in mobility were offered in collaboration with the three levels of government and civic groups and the UN's (UN) continual engagement through various subsidiaries.

Marina del Pilar emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to protect the well-being of this segment of the population, in line with the Fourth Transformation's social commitments, particularly in our entity, which has historically been viewed as a receiving state for people from other parts of the country and the world.

Catalino Zavala Márquez, the General Secretary of the Government of Baja California, was present at the meeting and stated that the state is developing a humanitarian strategy to serve this disadvantaged segment of the population.

The official emphasized the role of civil society shelters, which have given a location to assist the migratory population and have also collaborated with health officials.

Members of the Council emphasized health-related initiatives such as installing hygiene tools, immunizations, and medical care and exams for the hundreds of individuals of many countries that camp in the El Chaparral region.

The Mayors of Mexicali and Tecate, Norma Bustamante Martnez and Édgar Daro Bentez Ruiz, were also present, recounting their recent experiences in aiding migrants, mainly through the efforts taken by the towns under their jurisdiction.

Various leaders from the public and civic sectors of Baja California attended the meeting and agreed to support the state government's effort to assist migrants who arrive in the state for various reasons.
