The José Fuentes Mares National Prize is one of the most important awards in the world of Mexican literature that rewards narrative, poetry, theater, novels and essays. Among its most famous winners are writers Juan Villoro and José Emilio Pacheco and now Tijuana's Hugo Alfredo Hinojosa has joined this group for his book "King Kong Cabaret".

King Kong Cabaret is a book that was published this 2021 that includes the works Fariseos, Deshonra and King Kong Cabaret. But this is not the only recognition that Hinojosa has had in the world of letters: in 2009 he was awarded the Gerardo Mancebo del Castillo National Award for Young Playwrights and in 2012 the prestigious Bellas Artes National Literature Award in Theater.

Likewise, this 2021, in addition to the previously mentioned award, he won the Cultural Journalism Award granted by the State of Baja California. Thanks to these recognitions and his preparation, his name was mentioned in recent months as a candidate for the position of Secretary of Culture of the State of Baja California.

His experience as a playwright includes several plays, among them "Desiertos", which premiered at Cornell University in New York, USA. He also has international experience in London where he was part of the International Playwright Residency of the Royal Court Theatre.

Currently, Hugo Alfredo Hinojosa is working on the post-production stage of his first film, "Fenómeno", which will premiere in Mexico City in a few days.
