AMLO assures that it is now possible to reopen the border with the U.S.

Vaccination of states bordering the U.S. has concluded, so a reopening could soon be possible

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, assured this morning, through the daily conference, that today the vaccination was concluded in most of the border states and that this meant that the expected reopening of the border in cities like Tijuana and the rest of the strip between Mexico and the United States could happen very soon.

"This now allows for the border to be fully opened".

Around 3 million 804 thousand 809 vaccines have been administered in the border states, with Baja California being the northern state that has received and administered the most vaccines: a total of 1 million 247 thousand 998 vaccines have been destined for our state.

During the morning session, a map was shown with the border areas that have applied the most vaccines, besides Baja California, Chihuahua and Tamaulipas are the places where more people have received some of the doses accepted in the country.

They also informed that in the border area there are still some doses to be applied, mainly in Tamaulipas, where there are 64 thousand 666 doses available to complete the vaccination.

Regarding the reopening of the border, it should be noted that the U.S. government has the final decision and has not yet issued a statement to inform the date of reopening. However, with the campaign concluded and a good part of the border states vaccinated, Mexican authorities are optimistic.
