Baja California doubles its active cases in 30 days

Tijuana continues to account for majority of cases

Despite the fact that the number of active cases of COVID-19 in Baja California decreased in one day, the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, emphasized that the upward trend continues, since in just 30 days, the number of active cases has gone from 402 to 829.

The majority of this total is located in Tijuana, 316 cases, while Mexicali has 285, Ensenada 156, Rosarito 29, Tecate 27, San Quintin eight, as well as San Felipe.

The municipality with the highest incidence of active cases in the state is Ensenada with 29.80 per 100 thousand inhabitants, and Tijuana the lowest with 17.33.

Pérez Rico reminded the population that as of this Monday, Baja California will go back to yellow traffic light, and asked to continue using masks, avoid crowded places and keep social distancing. Especially now with the delta variant, which is the most contagious.

So far in the pandemic, 53 thousand 522 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the state, and 8 thousand 846 deaths.

Currently only in San Quintin and San Felipe is where the virus is reproducing less, having an Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) of 0.62 and 0.32, respectively.
