Tijuana tops list of Mexico's most violent municipalities

The border city is in the number one position in a list of 50 municipalities in the country

According to what is registered in the database of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Tijuana is positioned in the number one position on the list of the 50 municipalities in Mexico with the highest incidence of crime.

This was shared this Monday by the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), José Rafael Ojeda Durán, during the morning conference of the President of this country, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In addition to Tijuana, the list also includes Ensenada in ninth place, Tecate in 16th place, and Mexicali in 23rd place; all of them belonging to Baja California.

Tijuana is followed by Juárez, Chihuahua, and Leon, Guanajuato.

In mid-April of this year it was announced that Tijuana was the second most violent city in the world, only after another Mexican municipality: Celaya, Guanajuato.

For its part, the U.S. State Department asked U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to Baja California due to the crime observed in the state. But, in case they have to do so, it recommended that they do it during the day to avoid mishaps.
