After months Tijuana displaces Mexicali in active cases

The border city accumulates 153 active cases out of the 418 in Baja California

Tijuana had remained as the second municipality with the most active COVID-19 cases in Baja California for months, however, today it displaced Mexicali from the number one position, going from 141 to 153 of these cases; while the state capital decreased from 147 to 140.

And although today the border city registers the lowest incidence rate of active cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the State (8.39), the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, said he is not pleased that one of the largest municipalities is the one that accumulates the majority of such cases.

At the same time, he pointed out that "Mexicali is much closer to going green than continuing in yellow", due to the fact that it is showing downward trends.

On the other hand, of the 60 new cases of coronavirus that were registered in the last 24 hours in the state, 28 of them were reported in Tijuana; the rest 13 were in Mexicali, 10 in Ensenada, five in Rosarito, two in Tecate and two in San Quintin.

Currently, Tijuana has 18 thousand 663 positive cases, out of the 51 thousand 577 that have been reported in Baja California. Regarding deaths, most of them have occurred in this city, registering 3 thousand 943 of the 8 thousand 687.
