We recall that Mexico and the United States reached an agreement for the latter country to provide the necessary anti-COVID vaccines for the municipalities that border its counties, in order to speed up the lifting of restrictions at the border crossings between both nations.

Among the municipalities selected to participate are those located in Baja California, where Johnson & Johnson applied the vaccine, as well as Sonora, where Pfizer also applied the drug.

Currently, both States have finished vaccinating the population between 18 and 39 years of age with these vaccines, totaling one million 453 thousand 577 people immunized, which represents 51.03% of the target population.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 2 million 848 thousand 130 anti-virus vaccines are expected to be applied among the 45 municipalities involved.

According to the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, in charge of the vaccination in the northern border of Mexico, there are still 8 municipalities in Chihuahua, 8 in Coahuila, 1 in Nuevo Leon and 10 in Tamaulipas to be completed.

"This program is expected to conclude during the first days of August, we are thinking that in approximately one month we would finish with the entire border," he said from the National Palace this morning .
