Baja California will be the first state, among the largest in the country, to finish vaccinating seniors over 60 years of age.

The vaccination against COVID-19 for adults over 60 years of age in Baja California is expected to be completed this week, said the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, who said that this state will be the first, among the largest in the country, to vaccinate this sector of the population.

In view of this, he assured that in May the application of the drug will begin in Baja Californians between 50 and 59 years old, who have already started to register in the platform of this dependence. Click here to register.

"We will be able to start with 50 to 59 year olds, closing the cycle of 60 year olds, by this Monday. If people come this Saturday and Sunday in Tijuana, we will finish with the 60 year olds," he said.

The vaccination day to be held this weekend in Tijuana, is to apply the second doses of Sinovac to adults over 60 years of age who had it applied between March 31 and April 2. According to Perez Rico, it is estimated that 50 thousand Tijuanenses will receive the booster between the two days.

In case of having received the Sinovac vaccine more than 28 days ago, the Secretary asked adults to go to the Government Center in Tijuana, also known as Institute of Sustainable Mobility (IMOS), which is a fixed point, but only if they have already completed that period.

So far, 254 thousand 727 adults over 60 years of age have been vaccinated in Baja California with a dose of some anti-COVID vaccine, of which 170 thousand 681 have already obtained their booster.
