Compared to a month ago Baja California reported 297 active COVID-19 cases, however in the last 11 days (since April 5th) the State has shown a continuous increase in these cases, totaling 365 yesterday.
Most of these cases are located in Mexicali, registering 174 of the total, followed by Tijuana with 118, Ensenada with 38, San Quintin with 16, Tecate with seven, Rosarito with six and San Felipe also with six.
In addition, according to the report presented this morning by the Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, in the last 24 hours 150 more infections were reported, as well as the death of another 10 people.
80 of the new cases belong to Mexicali, 38 more to Tijuana, 22 to Tecate and the remaining 10 to San Felipe. Regarding the deaths, five occurred in the border city, three in the state capital, one in Ensenada and the other in San Quintin.
Thus, as of this Friday, Baja California accumulates 45 thousand 975 confirmed cases and 7 thousand 909 people who have lost their lives due to this disease.
Perez Rico reminded the population that the third wave is expected by the end of this month, so he urged to continue taking preventive measures, so that this wave does not impact as strongly as in European countries. At the same time, he pointed out that today one person with COVID-19 in this territory can infect two more, due to the fact that the Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) is 1.13.
