After a year of restrictions on non-essential activities at the border between the United States and Mexico, the latter country will put on the table "what will be the course of action in the coming months" in order to begin an economic recovery, said Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

This was raised in a meeting yesterday where he met with high-level authorities from the United States, headed by Roberta Jacobson, coordinator of the Southern Border,

They specifically seek to know "what will be the strategy to be followed or what can they agree on so that they can start recovering the economic activities" of both countries, said the Chancellor during the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador.

It should be recalled that the extension of such restrictions between the United States and Mexico until April 21 was recently reported, although, on this occasion the Mexican country also chose to apply restrictions on its northern and southern borders to only essential travel.

For his part, Mario Escobedo Carignan, Secretary of Sustainable Economy and Tourism of Baja California, a state that borders with California, United States, recently mentioned that tourists will have free access to the national territory during Spring Break and will not be asked to undergo a PCR test to rule out COVID-19.

"The issue of restricting essential crossings is only for the southern border, it would not even be the time to do it in the north, because in the American states bordering Mexico the incidence is decreasing. There would be no basis to carry it out and even less before Easter," he said.
