The head of the Secretariat of Health in Baja California, Alonso Perez Rico, informed this Thursday that state authorities authorized the change from orange to yellow traffic light, starting on Monday, March 8.

The Secretary mentioned that after the evaluation of the different indicators by COVID-19 in the entity, which total seven points, the federal government will change the region to green traffic light, since the classification to transition to that color is to accumulate from zero to eight points.

However, local authorities opted to change to yellow traffic light, thus increasing the capacity of the following activities and reopening others:

-Gyms, sports centers, spa: 65% of capacity.
-Swimming pools: 30% of capacity
-Cinemas, theaters, museums, and cultural events: 50% of capacity
-Shopping malls: 50% of seating capacity
-Hotels (with common areas and executive lounges): 75% of capacity
-Religious centers: 50% of seating capacity.
-Nightclubs, casinos, event halls (open and closed) and bars: 50% of seating capacity.
-Restaurants and cafeterias: 75% of capacity.
-Hairdressers, beauticians and barbershops: 50% of capacity by appointment only
-Parks, squares and public spaces: 50% of capacity
-Markets and supermarkets: 50% of capacity
-Public transportation (recommended use of masks and goggles: 50% capacity)
-Family gatherings and parties: Up to 20 people with social distancing.

On the other hand, ]professional sports continue behind closed doors, and massive events and recreational centers are still suspended.

Perez Rico added that the new protocol for restaurants will be available on Monday, to which they must adhere in order to operate. In turn, owners of bars, swimming pools and event halls were asked to contact the Secretariat of Health to learn about the protocols they must follow.

For the time being, the rest of this week will still remain under the orange traffic light, said health authorities.
