Although a rise in cases of COVID-19 is still expected in the coming days in Baja California due to the December 31 celebrations, active cases presented a decrease in the state this Monday.

According to the daily report of the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, as of this morning there are 975 of these cases, most of them located in Tijuana (401) and Mexicali (371).

This made these two large localities come out of the top 20 municipalities with the most active COVID-19 cases in Mexico. In the case of the border city, it went from 14th to 21st place, while Mexicali went from 13th to 22nd.

However, both municipalities continue to be the most affected by the pandemic in the region, accumulating a large part of the 35 thousand 879 positive cases: 14 thousand 619 of them belong to Mexicali and 12 thousand 366 to Tijuana.

The latter reports 2 thousand 592 unfortunate deaths out of the 5 thousand 930 that have occurred in the state. The state capital accounts for 2 thousand 334 of this total.
So far, hospital occupation in Baja California is 77%, and there are 213 beds and 149 fans available in the entire state, according to Pérez Rico.
