Baja California begins the week under red light, adding 12,018 positive cases of coronavirus, of which 6 thousand 421 belong to Mexicali (71 new cases), 3 thousand 488 to Tijuana (5), one thousand 246 to Ensenada (2), 270 to Tecate (2), 264 to San Quintin, 184 to San Felipe (9) and 145 to Rosarito (1).
However, although the state capital remains as the epicenter of the pandemic, the Head of the Department of Health Alonso Perez Rico mentioned that "Ensenada will be the new epicenter of Covid in Baja California," since this port is the second county with more active cases with177, followed by Mexicali with 259, in addition to an increase in mobility after the reopening of some activities.
At the same time, Perez Rico reinforced that "what is happening today in terms of Covid, is a reflection of what we did 14 days ago," which is why he invited Ensenada residents specifically to decrease their mobility and follow sanitary and safety protocols.
Meanwhile, the number of Baja California nativos who have died from this virus is 2 thousand 374, with one thousand 130 from Mexicali, one thousand from Tijuana, 149 from Ensenada, 70 from Tecate, 13 from Rosarito, 10 from San Quintin and 1 from San Felipe.
In the graphs presented by the Head of the Department of Health, it was shown that "all ages are at risk, but we must protect the most vulnerable," such as adults over 60 years, who represent 52% of people who have died from coronavirus in the state.
Despite this context, it is assured that more people have recovered than died from COVID-19 in Baja California, adding 4 thousand 907 recovered patients.
And what about you, which activities did you carry out during the last 14 days?
