The Provino Committee issued a statement informing that due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus, they will have to suspend the 30th celebration of the Grape Harvest Festival in Ensenada. Stating that they are taking into account the recommendations of the authorities.
They also took the opportunity to tell bits of this event´s history which originated with the first 9 wineries that began a series of celebrations. A lot has happened since these started, there are currently 67 wineries in Baja California.
Today, the wine route is a place of world tourism, where foreigners and locals enjoy the delicious wines and beautiful landscapes provided by the region.
Even before the pandemic came to affect our lives, it was common for Baja California natives to spend a weekend somewhere on "the route" or even take a tour where you were offered food and wine tasting.
They added that due to the crisis, the festivities will not be held in person until the situation in our country improves significantly and allows for social gatherings: "We are concerned about protecting the well-being of the entire community".
